How do we differ from a staff designer?

We are a consultancy firm with an emphasis on consultation. Our services are designed to advise and are part of the partnership you're embarking on with us.

How do we differ from an outsource studio?

Outsourcing studios can be a viable option if you're looking for a large volume of work to be done in a specified block of time. The emphasis here is “large volume” and “time”. Deep-rooted design problem-solving takes time and needs specialized skill sets and experience to work through these problems. This is something an outsource studio won't be able to adapt to in a production.

What initial procedures are involved in engaging with Unbound Lab?

We start with an initial consultation to discuss the project, scope, and timelines. This is the diagnostic phase of the engagement to determine the problem and if we can meaningfully provide a solution. we start with a trial run using a short-term project for you to test and see if it fits your production schedule/workflow. Once a rapport is established, we then partner for a long-term engagement, if needed.

How many hours a week can you commit?

We do not bill by the hour and therefore do not commit to hours as a metric. We focus on removing production barriers and will work with your teams to meet those milestone objectives and schedules to solve the addressed production concerns.

Will you work on-site?

We are a remote-driven studio and will remain that way for the foreseeable future.

Will you take meetings?

While we are a remote studio, we do see the benefits of in-person or Zoom collaborations when the situation arises.

Would you staff up for larger projects?

For us to remain agile and pivot quickly, we operate as a small highly experienced strike team. If the project scope is larger than we can realistically manage for you, we will put you in touch with a trusted vendor and help you staff your project for a referral fee.

Do you take on small projects?

Yes, small projects are welcome so long as they meet our minimum level of engagement.

will you work on retainer?

Yes, we offer retainer agreements. Our retainer packages start at $5,000/month and are scalable based on your needs.

What does it cost to work with Unbound Lab?

Custom project engagement minimums start at $20,000. This can be broken up between a series of smaller projects or one large project over 12 months.

What is your rate?

Since each client’s situation is unique to them, we take that same approach to custom work engagements. All factors and deliverables are taken into account in our proposals.

How do you price your work?

This depends on the deliverables or desired outcomes. We either bill by time and materials or fixed prices. We will work with you on the best pricing model for your situation. By doing so, you can make an informed purchasing decision and know the total cost for the engagement.

Will it cost me more for more revisions?

We do not like hidden costs or change orders and neither do you. The price for the engagement is fixed and remains that price.
